James Wimpenny Homes Ltd

The name Wimpenny has been synonymous with quality construction in the Yorkshire region for over 125 years, and is associated with many of the landmark buildings in and around the region.

We build in low volume, and only ever choose what we consider to be the most ideal build locations. Building in small numbers allows more time for carefully designing and crafting the house; which involves the selection of natural stone, wood and other fine materials with specifications that exceed that of many other builders.

The Build Process

imageWhen we commence and advertise a new build, it can often be reserved by you at an early stage of construction, so that you can proceed to work with design director Sue Wimpenny to personalise the build and make it your own.

Clients often request features such as underfloor heating, triple glazed windows and structured ‘intelligent’ wiring. Extensive time can be spent selecting kitchens, bathrooms, tiling, decoration and floor finishes with you. If time allows, even the layout of the house may be altered.

Self Build

image

We have a long history of work with self builders in the West Yorkshire area. If you have a dream home or "Grand Design" you would like to bring to reality, we would love to help you:

  • Identify and purchase land
  • Design and plan the home
  • Gain planning permission
  • Construct the house with our skilled partner builders
  • Select and finish the home interior

Contact us to discuss your idea, and we will help you to determine approximate prices, time scales and to offer advice.

Land Required

image

Regardless of planning status, we are looking to buy land in greenfield, brownfield, urban and rural areas, both large and small in order to satisfy the increasing demand for homes in Yorkshire.

Our skill and experience in the design process and negotiating planning approvals with authorities often means we can be successful where others cannot.

If you have land or know of land we may be interested in, please let us know and we can discuss either purchasing the land, developing the land for you on a contract basis or a profit-sharing venture with the owner.

News & Press Info

  • imageSOME UNUSUAL SELLING POINTS — Family building firm Wimpennys are giving their development a lift, literally. They have installed an elevator to all floors of the newly built, modern detached house in Shepley, near Huddersfield. It's a highly unusual added extra in a family home and usually only seen in multi-storey apartment blocks, but Sue Wimpenny says: "We're a small, bespoke developer and we wanted to do something different, designed for modern living and the upmost convenience."
